We have been married since July 31, 1976. That's 39 years ago. We met at Biola University when Jon was studying Bible and Christian Education and Jerilyn was studying nursing.
We have four children - Jessie, Jonathan, Joel, and Julie - all grown up. Jon enjoys being active - fishing, biking, dabbling in triathlon and half-marathon. Jerilyn enjoys reading and being with her children and grandchildren (Dylan is 8, Citlali is 7, Daniela is 4, and Eliana 1. We also have 2 foster grandchildren, ages 4 and 3).
We like to be together! August 10-23, 2008 we biked on a tandem from Eugene, Oregon to Eureka, California. That's about 345 miles. Look for our journal on http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/eu2eu. In 2010 we continued the trip towards San Francisco. Read about that trip at http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/eu2sf
We are missionaries with InFaith, America's oldest non-denominational home mission society. For more information on InFaith, you can go to their web page located at:http://InFaith.org/
About our Ministry
God has called us to work with the Spanish speaking people of the Willamette Valley of Oregon. God has given us the unique opportunity to minister to Hispanics at the time in which they are the most open to the Gospel message. That time is within the first two years of their arrival to the US.
We focus on four main areas of ministry involvement:
1. We have a series of ministry outreach events throughout the year that are aimed at attracting recent newcomers to the US. These include an Open Gym, Good Friday Outreach, a Carne Asada Outreach, prayer outreach, and Christian Concerts.
2. We are involved in planting Spanish speaking churches. We have planted two churches and continue to serve in all three. Jon is the pastor of Hispanic churches in Jefferson and Salem. We hope to plant more new churches as God opens doors.
3. We are multiplying our ministry through leadership training and involving people in ministry. Various people are involved in visitation ministry and teaching home Bible studies.
Look for blog updates on all these ministries as well as prayer requests that we will post from time to time.
